Hibachi Style

Aubrey like her father loves Hibachi, so she decided to invite her new friend Olivia out for a night on the town and some Hibachi.

Great Grandmommy "Grunt"

Aubrey got to meet her Great Grandmother today. She was overwhelmed with joy and excitement to finally get to meet her great grandmother.

Continuing a Tradition

On the way back to grandma’s house, Aubrey was overwhelmed with a craving for some hot dogs. So we stopped at a famous local place, The Hot Dog King. The Hot Dog King was where Aubrey’s Great Grandfather took me while I was growing up to get away from the wives, mothers and bustle of our day to day lives, this was our time together. Hopefully this was the start of a new tradition between Aubrey and I.

Like a Rock

I am famous for my deep sleeping. I have slept through falling off a bunk bed, fire trucks coming to the house, and even a class 4 hurricane. It seems Aubrey has inherited this trait. During a ceremony that honored her grandfather (retired Army) they fired off an 11 gun salute. When I say gun I don’t mean a small pettily rifle you have seen in the movies, I mean this:

As car alarms went off and small children ducked for cover Aubrey slept peacefully in her stroller.

Grand Papa Bear

Aubrey met her paternal grandfather today, Grand Papa Bear. Papa Bear was ecstatic to see his granddaughter for the first time.

Road Trip

We have decided to take the Aubrey show on the road (time, locations and tickets available at all Ticketmaster locations).

Aubrey embarked on her first road trip today. We set off to see my parents and other friends and family. After a few miles on the interstate we discovered that Aubrey has inherited her mother’s ability to fall asleep almost immediately while in the car. So Bri’s mother and I spent some time discussing their home renovation project while the Bris slept in the back.

Can’t Sit Still

While on the couch with Bri’ s mother, Aubrey decided it was time to roll over, to all of our amazement. My kid is a fast learner (she gets that from her mother). I can’t wait to see what she does next.

First Doctor’s Visit

Aubrey had her first doctor’s visit today. She is healthy and actually has gained weight. Newborns usually lose weight in the first week, not my kid, she gained 2 ounces.

Blowout

Last night Aubrey had her first blowout (All the parents know what I am talking about), which reminded me of a guy I knew back in school. I was out with him and his family one night and his father told me that my friend’s nickname as a baby was blowout and began telling the story as my friend’s skin color went from a pal white to a deep crimson. Well I just thought that was the funniest thing and had to share it with all our friends. The nickname stuck and for the rest of high school ‘Blowout’ followed him wherever he went.

After hearing that story I thought I knew what a blowout was and could imagine my friend’s parents having to deal with that.

I was wrong. It is no longer funny.

Out for Tacos

Aubrey decided to go have Mexican with her new cousin Isabella at a local Mexican restaurant. I have a strong feeling that this is just the first of many outings these two will take (Isabella was born on June 5).

Family Arrives

Bri’s parents, brother and nephew arrived today. Her mother was not in the house longer then 3 seconds before Aubrey was in her hands and she was never more then a few feet away. We had a good time visiting with Bri’s family, and are looking forward to our first trip out to see them.

Big Sister

Aubrey got to meet her big sister Indi today. Indi was not quite sure what to make of Aubrey, but did give her a few licks and after some sniffs warmed up to her a bit. I think Indi is still not sold on this whole little sister idea.

Going Home

Today Bri and Aubrey were discharged from the hospital. As you can see Aubrey is all ready for her first car ride home.

Friends

I value my friends second only to family (and not always then). Your family did not have a choice, your family. Your friends on the other hand had a choice. Bri and I are blessed with a wonderful circle of friends.

While in the hospital we received numerous visits (some even dropped what they were doing and drove from out of town), emails, voice mails and texts from friends sharing their excitement, happiness and support for us. I just wanted to express our gratitude.

** Thank You. **

Loving Parents

Today Bri and I began "learning" how to be parents. The day was filled with firsts, including feeding, swaddling, burping and the infamous diapers. Our nurses where patient and understanding while instructing me on how to be dad. I also discovered the joys of installing a car seat. Let me tell you, they don’t just snap in, it took me a few tries to get it right, but I can guarantee that car seat is not going anywhere soon.

Today was also the day that Aubrey was released from NICU.

Aubrey's First Day

Aubrey spent her first day in the NICU.

"Dead to the World"

My mother was able to arrive Tuesday night. But as you might know she does not do well around blood or even the thought of blood. So she stayed in the waiting room. After Aubrey was born I went out to share the news and found her “dead to the world”.

Later that day (it was a long day for all of us) she returned to spend time with her favorite grandchild.

“Your Life is going to Change Forever”

If I had a dollar for each time I heard that phrase over the last nine months I could pay for Aubrey’s college tuition. But no amount of advice or foretelling can prepare someone for the change that occurred today at 2:01 am. This kind of change must be experienced, it cannot be taught, nor mitigated and most importantly should always be cherished. Our lives did change forever when my wife, Brianne and I welcomed our first child Aubrey into this world.

This Blog will be an attempt to share the coming life changes in Aubrey’s and our lives, with friends and family.
